I am thrilled to finally be able to share my first commission with you!
The client shared with me that she was looking for a perfect present for her sister-in-law's birthday and was so excited to come across the idea of a portrait! Her sister-in-law is expecting her second baby on the birthday of her first daughter, and is trying to savor all the time she has with her little baby girl until the house is filled with even more chaos! She gave me plenty of photos to choose from, but I fell in love with this pose:
I just loved the chubby toes and J's hands holding onto her baby girl, M. The client said that her sister in law hates how she looks pregnant, (I think she looks great!) but she wanted the picture of her to be from her pre-baby days.
She also gave me lots of adorable photos of M to choose from, but I loved this face.
The 11 x 14 portrait was done in a sepia style using white, burnt umber, and sepia Prismacolor pencils. I am in love with how the portrait came out!
I hope that J will love her portrait and will help her to savor the time she has with her adorable daughter!
I am delighted that orders are pouring in, and I'm beginning to think that I need to budget my time well for my big Christmas deadline! If you're thinking of commissioning a portrait for Christmas, let me know, and I would love to start sharing ideas of how I can make the perfect one-of-a-kind gift for someone you love!
